Sanchez saves Mourinho’s job after stoppage time goal

Alexis Sanchez made sure Jose Mourinho was not given the marching orders as Manchester United had to come from behind to beat Newcastle United 3-2 in an action-packed thriller at Old Trafford this evening.

Super Sub Sanchez sealed the crucial three points in the final minute of normal time to ease the pressure on Mourinho when he nodded the ball into the net.

Newcastle looked to be coasting to victory with two quick goals in the early minutes of play.

Brazilian midfielder, Kennedy had given the Magpies the lead when he latched on to a through-ball, beat Ashley Young before sending the ball into the bottom corner of the United net.

Yoshinori Muto doubled the lead three minutes later. It was his first Magpies goal on his first league start.

Remarkably, it was the first time in Premier League history that United had conceded two times inside the opening 10 minutes at Old Trafford, and the hosts suddenly found themselves with a mountain to climb in front of their own fans against a team that had lost five of their previous six games.

It took a stunned United until the final 20 minutes to react, with first-half sub Juan Mata providing the catalyst for a remarkable comeback.

Mata converted a free kick after Anthony Martial had been fouled in the 70th minute into the bottom corner which was beyond Newcastle goalkeeper Dubravka for United’s first goal.

Six minutes later Martial got the equaliser to send Old Trafford into wild jubilation.

The win was United’s first in five games and the first at home since their 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the opening game of the season.
