Score card: Onuachu remains consistent,Sadiq, Okoye improve

Super Eagles’  prolific and consistent striker, Paul Onuachu,  is still flying Nigeria’s flag up with his superlative scoring feat and relentless zeal to rank among the best in Europe in the last few days.

Onuachu may have posted a lethargic performance at Charleroi, but still managed to score his 24th goal in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League to end a losing run by Genk. It is not surprising that speculations are now rife about his future with various reports linking him to clubs from France to England.

The Super Eagles hopeful scored Almeria’s first and supplied the assist to the home side’s last goal to lead the La Liga hopefuls to their 11th league win of an excellent campaign.

Babajide David Akintola also moved up on the Turkish top goal scorer’s chart after netting a brace in Hatayspor’s 4-1 mauling of basement club Ankaragucu in a week 27 Super Lig clash at the Hatay Ataturk Stadi.

Umar Sadiq was yet again the difference-maker as Almeria handed Lugo a crushing 4-1 defeat in a Segunda Division week 27 clash at the Estadio Mediterraneo.

Maduka Okoye pulled off a string of fine saves, but it was not enough to prevent ten-man Sparta Rotterdam from falling to a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Willem II in an Eredivisie face-off on Sunday.

Featuring in his 17th league game of the season, Okoye did his bit to help the home side go into the break with a clean sheet against fellow strugglers Willem II.

Junior Ajayi grabbed a double for Al Ahly to win 2-1 in the league at home and stay on course for a successful defence of their league championship in Egypt. The African champions are enjoying a new lease of life under South African coach Pitso Mosimane and Ajayi will again have a prominent role to play for the Red Devils from bustling Cairo.

Former Golden Eaglets star, Akinkunmi Amoo, justified a rare start for Hammarby in the Swedish Cup with a second-half goal as his team ran away 3-0 winners over Oskarshamns AIK. The youngster will hope to build on last season when his game time was limited – 6 appearances all from the bench and totaling 63 minutes.

Samuel Kalu scored his fourth goal of the season for Ligue 1 club, Bordeaux, on Saturday.

Kalu opened the scoring after 14 minutes before FC Metz fought back in the second half to win 2-1.
