Seedorf takes charge of first Deportivo training

Clarence Seedorf was straight to work on Tuesday after taking charge of his first training session as the new Deportivo manager.

The former AC Milan star was named boss of the struggling La Liga club on Monday, replacing the sacked Cristobal Parralo following a 5-0 defeat by Real Sociedad.

Already Seedorf was keen to get his message across to his players as he shared advice with the likes of Fabian Schar and Florin Andone.

The 41-year-old will be in charge at the Riazor for the rest of the season in what has been a wretched campaign for Deportivo so far.

Parralo only took over in October having replaced former West Bromwich Albion manager Pepe Mel but won just two league games before being axed following heavy away defeats at Sociedad as well as a 7-1 thrashing at Real Madrid.

Seedorf takes over a side 18th in La Liga and three points off safety after a run of seven games without a win.

The first game in charge for the former Holland international will be a home clash against Real Betis on Monday.

Despite a glittering playing carer that saw him win the Champions League at Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan, Seedorf remains relatively inexperienced as a manager.

After returning to Milan for his first managerial appointment in 2014 he was dismissed after just six months in charge.

In 2016, the former midfielder moved to China to take over at Shenzhen but again lasted just five months before being axed.
