Semi Ajayi: Our mission in Poto Novo is to get the job done!

West Brom defender Semi Ajayi says Super Eagles only mission in Poto Novo is to get the job done by winning so as to make return journey to Lagos a sweet one.  The former Rotherham United ace opined that qualifying for the Nations Cup is a task that must be done adding that getting the job done means winning both in Poto Novo and Lagos respectively.

“The upcoming two games are important so we are looking to get the job done to finally qualify for AFCON so we just have to face the games with the right mentality and make sure we get the job done.” he enthused.

Ajayi who made his debut against Seychelles in the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers coming on for injured Chidozie Awaziem in the 73rd minute, has so far made 18 appearances for the senior national team since joining them in 2018.

Eagles will square up against Squirrels on Saturday and then host Crocodiles of Lesotho on Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

As at Thursday seven countries  Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Tunisia, Senegal defending Champions Algeria and hosts Cameroon have booked their places in the 2022 AFCON , leaving the rest of the countries including Nigeria to battle for the remaining 17 places to make up the 24 team championship which kicks off in January.
