Semi Ajayi West Brom teammates to host Duke of Cambridge

Super Eagles defensive midfielder Semi Ajayi and his West Bromwich Albion teammates will be having a royal visit come November 28 as they host the Duke of Cambridge Prince William.

Ajayi and other senior team players according to the program will have the opportunity of rubbing minds with the Duke on “some of the pressures they face as players and the impact such challenges can have upon their mental well-being.

It is however not just a senior players and coaches affair as the Duke who doubles as Football Association President will equally spend some time with young players from the Albion’s academy before joining a session on  mental health to be anchored by a first team player.

The club has introduced the sessions to ensure young players are better able to cope with the challenges and potential setbacks they could face during their careers.

Speaking on the club website, Captain Chris Brunt said: “We are obviously pleased and proud to offer our support to The Duke’s efforts.

“As we learn more and more about the importance of mental well-being, it seems clear that we should use the game’s profile to encourage everyone to talk about these issues.”

Semi Ajayi just back from national assignment where he contributed in no small measure as Super Eagles beat lesotho 4-2 in Maseru to keep their 2021 Nations cup qualifiers on their front burner joined Championship side West Brom on a four year deal in July this year and has made over 16 appearances for the side with two goals to his credit.
