Serie A: Juve make decision on Pirlo’s immediate future

Juventus have reportedly made a decision on beleaguered manager Andrea Pirlo’s immediate future at the club after the Bianconeri dropped out of the UEFA Champions League places in Serie A.

Pirlo was brought in at the beginning of the campaign, taking the reins from Maurizio Sarri, but has failed to impress in his maiden season as a manager.

The Old Lady are fifth on the Serie A standings and have missed out on the league title for the first time in nine years, while they were eliminated by FC Porto from the Champions League at the round of 16 stage.

However, according to Football Italia, Juve’s leadership has assured Pirlo he will remain in charge until the end of the season.

There were reports over the weekend that the Italian giants had identified Zinedine Zidane and Gennaro Gattuso as possible replacements for next season.

It is further claimed that Pirlo might still be at risk of losing his job even if the side does qualify for the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League, with the club’s hierarchy having reportedly met to discuss the manager’s future on Monday.

The Turin outfit will go up against Atalanta in the final of the Coppa Italia on 19 May as they look to claim their only major trophy this campaign, before ending the season against Bologna on 23 May.
