Serie A: Simy Nwankwo completes Salernitana switch from Crotone

Super Eagles forward Simy Nwankwo has completed a switch to Serie A newcomers Salernitana on a permanent deal from Crotone, reports sportiv journalist Nicolò Schira.

Crotone, who were relegated from Serie A last season, have scared a number of suitors away as a result of their €10m asking price for the Nigerian international.

There were proposals from abroad, but Nwankwo want stay in Italy. Udinese were the only real contenders for Salernitana.

Simy will now team up with his compatriot, Joel Obi at the newly promoted Serie A side.

Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia maintain the deal was done for €6m including performance-related bonuses.

There will also be a 10 per cent cut of any future transfer fee going to Crotone.

Simy made a big impact last season with 20 goals scored in 38 Serie A games, but that was still not enough to prevent the Squali suffering relegation.

The 29-year-old centre-forward has four senior caps for Nigeria so far.
