Simmy Nwankwo inspired Crotone to a hard earned 2-1 away victory over Udinese at the Stadio Friuli.

The 25-year-old was filled with confidence heading into the fixture following his brilliant goal against Italian Champions Juventus last weekend and showed his quality in the Serie A match-day 34 fixture.

Kevin Lasagna gave the home side the lead inside the first five minutes but the Nigerian ensured that it lasted just two minutes as he stretched out his long leg to steer home a cross from Andrea Nalini’s cross.

The goal made it three in four consecutive games for the Nigerian who is ending the season very strong. He now has four in 19 appearances this season.

The three points was in the bag for Crotone when Simy’s shot from the edge of the box was deflected but it set up nicely for former Udinese full-back Marco Davide Faraoni who finished from the tightest of angles to make it 2-1. The loss condemned Udinese to their 11th straight defeat of the current season.

Crotone are currently placed 17th with 31points, just two points above the relegation zone while Udinese sit 15th with 33points.
