Solskjaer pencils down five for contract extension

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer  wants the club to tie an integral quintet of players down to new deals.

The Red Devils have completed two marquee signings in the forms of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, while Edinson Cavani is staying on for another 12 months.

However, United still have a couple of uncertainties internally with regards to contracts, and Solskjaer supposedly wants to create “harmony” in the dressing room with bumper pay rises for the club’s top performers.

Bruno-fernandes scored four goals against Leeds

According to The Sun, Solskjaer is hopeful of agreeing new deals for Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire, while there is still optimism that Paul Pogba can be convinced to stay.

Shaw and Rashford are due to become free agents in under two years’ time, while Fernandes and Maguire’s deals do not expire until 2025, but Solskjaer supposedly wants all four players to be bumped up to at least £250k per week.

Pogba, meanwhile, has less than 12 months left to run on his £290k-a-week deal, but he is allegedly holding off on signing a new deal and will not put pen to paper this month.

Fernandes scored four while Pogba assisted four in Man United’s 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, and the Red Devils now prepare to travel to Southampton on Sunday.
