Son of a Guru Alex Robertson making impact at Man City

Alex Robertson is beginning to make waves at Manchester City.

Nicked away from Manchester United as a 15 year-old, Robertson has scored six goals in five matches for the U23s and U18s. The midfielder is now training with Pep Guardiola’s senior squad.

“It’s what you grow up to dream of as a young player. I’ve been lucky to get there at 17 years old and training with some of the best players in the world and the best manager in the world is very nice and humbling,” he told the Manchester Evening News. “You just have to stay grounded, keep working hard and try and get to that next level.

“When I was younger I was more about skills and trickery. I was quite quick but now growing up your body matures so I’m more a box-to-box midfielder. I like to run, tackle, score goals. I can do both sides..

“I can attack and defend but I think being able to defend as a midfielder and get back and have that nasty side to you is good because sometimes in the modern day that is missing from people.

“I want to play as many games as I can now. I’ve missed out on a lot of football in past years due to injury but I’m looking to play as much football as I can, do the best I can do, score as many goals as I can and catch the eye of some people and then press on from there.”

Robertson is the son of former Burnley midfielder and Australia international Mark Robertson.
