Southampton place £6.5M bid for Osayi-Samuel

Southampton have contacted Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce with an offer to take Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel to St Mary’s this summer, but faces competition from Besiktas.

The acquisition of left-back Charlie Taylor on a free transfer from Burnley has already been announced, and Osayi-Samuel appears to be another target on their defensive shopping list.

for the 24-year-old Nigerian but Besiktas are also interested as they want to rebuild the squad after a dismal season.

The final decision on Osayi-Samuel’s future will likely rest with Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho. The Nigeria international has experience playing in both Turkey and England.

Osayi-Samuel made 23 appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig last season, but with only one year remaining on his contract, Fenerbahce might view this summer as an opportune moment to cash in on the player.
