Southgate close to new England deal
England manager Gareth Southgate is close to signing a new four-year deal.
Southgate has exceeded expectations since getting the job permanently especially with England’s
memorable run to the FIFA World Cup semi-finals in Russia still fresh in the minds of English fans.
“For me it is not a priority. That is how I get the team going in the next couple of years, really.
“In terms of contract, I have got 20 months – we are into the second half of this four-year plan. I am
loving the role, I have been away, and it has not been a priority.”

The issue would be brought before the FA board on Thursday as England commences preparations for Qatar
2022.
