Spurs star Son Heung-min to isolate for two weeks

Tottenham Hotspur footballer Son Heung-min will self-isolate for two weeks following his return from South Korea as the Premier League club looks to quell the ongoing threat of the coronavirus.

The striker returned to his homeland earlier this month for an operation on his arm after breaking it against Aston Villa, with the South Korean wanting the same surgeon to work on the same arm he had surgery on three years ago.

Son traveled back home before the government protocols were put in place regarding travel to and from South Korea as the world bids to get a grip on the virus.

The Spurs star is looking to overcome the injury he sustained in his side’s thrilling 3-2 win at Villa Park earlier this month so he he can play a part in Spurs’ end of season run-in.

But in the short term future, Son will stay away from the club’s Enfield training ground for 14 days, meaning he will not be in contact with his team-mates amid fears of the coronavirus.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho confirmed that the club are following legal and medical advice regarding the situation.

‘I think the normal advice comes from the authorities, comes from the government. I’m not going to make any comment, I’m nobody, I’m no specialist,’ he said.

‘I just get the legal advice and what my club gets from authorities, and of course we follow everything. That’s why I’m saying that Sonny when he’s back from Seoul we will have to follow the protocols and we are not going to have him immediately here.

‘Where he will be? I don’t know how to be specific with that, I just know we have to follow some safety protocols.’

Prior to Mourinho’s pre-match press conference, the media were asked to sign a document to confirm that they had not traveled to a number of different Asian countries, including South Korea.
