Stay away from sex and give me good football!-Becali

Owner of Bucharest club FCSB, Gigi Becali has cited his player’s extreme love for sex as reason for the poor performance of the club.

The 61 year old businessman and politician insisted the players easily get under the sheets with their girlfriends, a routine which leaves them with limited energy to do the needful on the pitch. “The players are having sex too much”

The 1986 European Cup winners, formerly known as Steaua Bucharest who are Romania’s most successful club with 26 league titles, have failed to win their last three games, and Becali told local media the players were spending too much time with their girlfriends.

‘My players are making love with their girlfriends too often, that’s why they aren’t playing football so well lately,’ he said after FCSB’s 1-1 home draw against lowly Chindia Targov

That result left them fourth in the standings, eight points behind leaders CFR Cluj as the season enters the play-offs.

Becali, who made a fortune in real estate, praised CFR Cluj coach and former Chelsea right back Dan Petrescu for restoring discipline at the club.

‘Look at Dan Petrescu,’ said Becali. ‘CFR players have sex only once a week. They meet with women only once a week.’

FCSB have only managed to win one in their last five matches and are expected to take on Botosani on Saturday.

Interestingly the hosts of Saturday’s encounter Botosani have won all their five last matches and there are permutations that they stand a chance of compounding the woes of embattled FCSB.
