Stevan Jovetic joins Hertha Berlin from Monaco

Hertha Berlin have signed Stevan Jovetic after the Montenegrin’s contract expired with Ligue 1 club Monaco.

Jovetic also boasts the likes of Manchester City, Inter Milan and Sevilla on his playing CV, and sporting director Fredi Bobic who arrived this summer from Eintracht Frankfurt is delighted to have plugged the gap left by the Krasnodar-bound Jhon Cordoba.

“With Stevan we’re getting a classic centre-forward who brings a lot of experience from the top leagues in Europe,” he said. “Whether in the Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1 or La Liga, Stevan has scored goals everywhere he’s been. With his footballing qualities, and also his human ones, he’ll help us immediately. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Jovetic has scored 103 career goals, alongside 51 assists, in 365 appearances at club level. He will get the first chance to add to those numbers on Thursday, when Hertha take on Liverpool in Austria in a pre-season friendly. The 31-year-old cannot wait to get going.

“I had very good conversations with those in charge at Hertha, especially Fredi Bobic, and was eager to get involved in Berlin from the very first minute,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to the club, the city, my new teammates and the Bundesliga itself.”
