Stoke retain Etebo for new season, release Flying Eagles Invitee

Nigeria international, Oghenekaro Etebo is among the players retained by Championship club Stoke City ahead of 2020-2021 season with the list submitted to the English Football League.

Etebo’s retention by the club shows how relevant he remains to the club despite only featuring in eight matches from 26 games which forced the Potters leadership to ship him out on loan to Spanish side, Getafe in January.

With Getafe, Etebo has seen his game pick up which could prompt the Madrid side to activate the purchase clause in his contract and make the loan move permanent at the end of the season.

However, compatriot and defender Ashinme Kigbu was released by the club who found him surplus to requirement along with seven players under the age of 24.
