Suarez, Robertson clash in tunnel at half time

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez was involved in a tunnel spat with Andrew Robertson at half-time of their Champions League semi-final clash with Liverpool.

The Uruguayan star opened the scoring against his former club as he slotted beyond Alisson in the 26th minute and angered Reds fans with a wild celebration.

He spent an unforgettable spell at Liverpool between 2011 and 2014 but he was clearly swept away by the emotion of the huge game.

He also rattled Liverpool’s defence as he caused them plenty of problems during a fast-paced first half.

He was at loggerheads with full-back Robertson towards the closing stages of the first half as they traded words and Robertson hit back.

The striker also exchanged words with Alisson – and according to BT Sport pundit Michael Owen, Suarez continued his dispute with Robertson and Liverpool players as they made their way into the dressing rooms at half-time.

“There was still a bit of a commotion there, walking up the tunnel at half-time,” Owen revealed on BT Sport.

It was not the only interesting action to take place in the tunnel at the break.

It was reported on Twitter that Jordi Alba, the Barcelona full-back who fed Suarez for his opener with a delicious ball, took a few moments to gather himself in the chapel located in the tunnel during the break.

Liverpool were left chasing the game as the second half got underway after Suarez’s goal, and they also lost Naby Keita to injury in the first half.
