Super 6 pace-setters Enyimba in top form ahead of Insurance duel

Former champions Enyimba International topped group following their first win in the ongoing Nigeria Premier League Super 6 playoff on Monday after a narrow victory over Lobi Stars and they are expected to be similar form against Bendel Insurance on Wednesday.

The game which was played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena witnessed an end to end fireworks from both sides as they tried to outwit one another.

Emeka Obioma’s 16th-minute header gave the People’s Elephant their first victory in the playoff to remain in strong contention for the title.

The People’s Elephant now have four points from two games.

The eight-time champions will take on Bendel Insurance in their next game on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Rivers United and Remo Stars produced a frenetic atmosphere as both sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Nyima Nwagua put Rivers United upfront in the 16th minutes.

Remo Stars restored parity in the second half through Adebayo Lekan after an assist from Adams Olamilekan.

Dayo gave Remo Stars the lead for the first time in the game with a screamer in four minutes of added time.

Rivers United, however, fought back immediately, with substitute Lukman Adefemi scoring the leveler.

River United are on four points while Remo Stars are on two points on the log. In the last match of MatchDay 2, Sunshine Stars who lost their first match against Rivers United held Bendel Insurance to 1-1 draw to pick their first point in the championship. Divine Nwachukwu had put Benin Arsenal in the 7th minute before Ekerette Udoh drew level for the Akure Gunners.
