Nigeria senior national team manager, Gernot Rohr has revealed how he struggled to communicate in English when he newly arrived the country to resume duties.

Rohr took over from Sunday Oliseh in August 2016 following the latter’s sudden resignation.

The German coach explained that it was not easy adapting to the language since French was the only dialect he understood and could communicate in owing to the African countries that he had handled.

But with time, the 65-year old coach who is married to a Madagascan  has been able to overcome the challenge to flow to the delight of his employers.

“It was easy for me to work in Gabon, Tunisia, Burkina Faso and Gabon because French is their major language but I had to struggle a bit when I arrived in Nigeria but I’m sure my English has since improved” Rohr told SportingLife.ng.

Rohr has handled the national teams of Niger Republic and Gabon.
