Super Eagles return after winning Bronze in Egypt

 

Nigeria’s bronze winning Super Eagles, have arrived the country close to 48 hours after defeating Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 to claim their 8th third place victory of the Nations cup.

The Nigerian national team led by its Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr was received by Ministry of Youths and Sports led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha ably supported by the Permanent Secretary, Youths and Sports Olusade Adesola.

12 players returned to Nigeria and they were led by Eagles’ Assistant Captain Ahmed Musa, the three goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.Others spotted include Keneth Omeruo,  Chidozie Awaziem, Pual Onuachu, Wilfred Ndidi, Shehu Abdullahi, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen.

The NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick was not on the flight but the 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwumi was part of the arrivals.

Akinwumi who thanked Nigerians for their support and prayers for the team while in Egypt, maintained that the team did not do badly.  The NFF according to him will wait for the technical report of the Head Coach Gernot Rohr before deciding on the next line of action.

NFF scribe Dr. Sanusi Mohammed however re-echoed confirmation that Rohr will not be fired do to some grey areas in his contract.
