Super Eagles seeded as W/Cup playoffs draw gets January date

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been seeded for the final World Cup playoffs draw which will hold on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

According to a release made available to newsmen after a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee on Friday, Nigeria will avoid the likes of Senegal, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

However, the three-time African champions will now tackle any nation from the likes of Egypt, Ghana, Mali, DR Congo or Cameroon in their final hurdle to Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Interestingly, the playoffs will be played on home and away basis between March 21 and 29 with the overall winners advancing to the World Cup, which kicks off on November 21.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Jose Peseiro is expected to take over from Augustine Eguavoen after the forthcoming AFCON 2021 in Cameroon for the playoffs.
