Tavares scores as Arsenal end Scotland tour with Rangers draw

Nuno Tavares scored on his first start for Arsenal as they drew with Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

The Gunners drew 2-2 against Rangers as they finished their pre-season tour of Scotland by avoiding defeat.

Leon Balogun headed Rangers ahead after 14 minutes, but Arsenal hit back soon after courtesy of new boy Nuno.

Mikel Arteta’s side were on top in the first half and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was guilty of squandering a number of chances.

In the end, they were made to pay for it as Cedric Itten headed home from a corner in the 75th minute to give Rangers the win.

It was the second goal Arsenal had conceded from a set piece and Arteta will have been disappointed by the manner of the goal.

It looked like Rangers would hold on for the win, but Eddie Nketiah scored a well-taken goal in the 83rd minute to earn his side a draw.

Like in the first half, Arsenal missed a number of chances and they will be disappointed that they did not beat Rangers.

The Gunners are now due to return to London before heading to America next week for more pre-season matches.
