Terry to earn £800,000-a-year as Chelsea coach

John Terry will earn £800,000-a-year after agreeing to return to former club Chelsea as their Under-23 manager.

Terry has been contacted by his former club to help with the development of the club’s new generation of players.

The 37-year-old is expected to officially hang up his boots very soon after rejecting a move to Spartak Moscow.

Terry has never hidden his desire to manage Chelsea’s senior side, having spent more than two decades at Stamford Bridge prior to joining Aston Villa last year.

However, the 37-year-old must still complete his UEFA coaching badges before he can officially replace Jody Morris in the dugout.

“He has been in talks with the boss for the past few weeks and has verbally agreed the deal. It will only come to fruition though once he has finished his badges. An as-yet undecided manager will take over in the interim.”

Morris stepped down from his position in the summer to join Chelsea favourite Frank Lampard at Derby County.
