The day I made Solskjaer cry, Chima reveals

Football draws out great emotions from people and for Nigerian striker Daniel Chima Chukwu it was beautiful when current Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cried with him on a day he grieved, SportingLife can report.

The 28-year-old forward who is currently on loan at Chinese side Heilongjiang Lava Spring, played under Solskjaer at Molde in two separate spells for about four seasons before the Norwegian moved to Old Trafford in a caretaker role and later handed a three-year deal following some outstanding results.

Chima recounts an encounter he had with Solskjaer after he lost his brother and that experience stayed with him until this day.

Speaking with SportingLife from his base in China, Chima revealed: “In 2011, we were having pre-season in Spain and I told Solsjaer that I had just lost my brother. He offered his sympathy and immediately told me I can go see my family in Nigeria but what shocked me the most was that he cried with me.

“Solskjaer is a true friend and that is one factor that has helped him at Manchester United because all the players want to play for him. He is always positive and smiling. He gives everyone a chance to play and if you don’t, you know it’s your fault. I played under him in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2018 before he moved to Manchester United. He is a very good person and I’m convinced he will do well.”

Solskjaer’s Manchester United are currently placed sixth on the premier league log with 64points, two points adrift fourth placed Arsenal as they bid to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
