Thibaut Courtois emerges Real Madrid’s MVP for February

Real Madrid have weathered their injury crisis and come out of the month of February in very good shape with five wins out of five, which has mostly been down to their defensive solidity, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois playing a big role.

The Belgian has proven once again that he’s a top goalkeeper who can win games and points for his side.

The only blot on his copybook was a fantastic goal from Huesca left-back Javi Galan, but Courtois has pulled off some truly magnificent stops to keep his side in matches over recent weeks.

He’s played 32 times this campaign, conceding 30 goals, and has kept a clean sheet on 14 occasions, four of which came in February.

Courtois is on course to receive the Zamora Trophy, which is awarded by MARCA to the goalkeeper with the least goals conceded in a LaLiga season.

This would be the fourth time he’s picked up the award, having won it twice before with Atletico Madrid and once last season with Los Blancos.
