Thomas Frank wants Eriksen future decided now!

Thomas Frank is keen for Christian Eriksen’s future to be decided before the end of the season after the Dane once again proved key in Brentford’s 3-0 win over Southampton.

The 30-year-old signed a short-term deal with the west London club in January after recovering from cardiac arrest that saw him collapse during last summer’s European Championship.

Since joining the Bees, Eriksen has been instrumental in helping the club secure its status in the Premier League. They are now 11 points out of the drop with just two games remaining in their season.

He was involved in the key moments again on Saturday, even if he was only ‘average’ by his own head coach’s admission, supplying the corner for the first set and providing the run that sparked the second.

And Frank was quick to emphasize how settled his star is, despite links to other Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Tottenham.

Asked if renewing Eriksen’s contract was the priority this summer, he replied: ‘Can I do it earlier?’

‘He is very happy here, he is happy. He is loved.

“Enjoy his football, I hope he makes a positive decision for us.”

The victory over Southampton took Brentford to 43 points. It’s the same comeback as Norwich and Watford combined, the two teams they created in the Championship last summer, but who are headed for an immediate return to the second tier.

They face relegation-threatened Everton and Leeds in their last two games and Frank used the opportunity to praise his team’s performance throughout the season to get them to this point.

“I think it’s incredibly impressive the way we’ve performed so far,” he added.

‘Imagine if we are winning the last two, that would be fantastic.

“However, I think the two teams we are facing are probably the worst we could face other than Liverpool and City because they are fighting for their lives.
