Tianjin Teda 1-1 Shanghai Shenhua:  Eagles camp in panic as Ighalo plays for 12 minutes

Odion Ighalo lasted just 12 minutes on the pitch in a Chinese Super League game that ended 1-1 between his club Shanghai Shenhua and Tianjin Teda at the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium today.


Ighalo who has already scored seven goals for his club this season was hoping to increase his tally before he went down in the 11th minute with his team trailing 1-0 courtesy of a header from Brazilian striker, Johnathan.

Play had to be interrupted for a few moments to allow the medical crew attend to the Super Eagles’ striker but he had to replaced by Wu Yizhen in the 12th minute when it became obvious that he could no longer continue with the game.
The nature or severity of the injury was not disclosed immediately but the news has already sent panic into the camp of the Super Eagles coming just barely 41 days to the start of the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

The former Watford man is expected to undergo medical tests in the coming days to determine how long he will be on the sideline.

The 29-year-old was the highest goal scorer in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with seven goals to his name.

The Super Eagles will begin preparations for the AFCON in Asaba on Sunday, June 2.
