Tokyo 2020 Qualifiers: Falcons on a winning start, beat Algeria 2-0
Super Falcons kick-started their bid to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo with a second-round, first-leg win against Algeria at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Bilda on Wednesday.
Nigeria scored in both halves ahead of the return leg billed for the Agege Stadium on September 3.
Algeria’s Ouadah’s scored an own goal in the 15th minute off a cross from Alice Ogebe.
Amarachi Okoronkwo doubled the lead for the Africa champions with her well-struck long-range effort in
the 54th minute.
Nigeria last qualified for the football event in the women’s category of the Olympics 12 years ago.
