Tomas Soucek ends up in stitches in West Ham Spurs clash

Tomas Soucek was left a bloody mess after a clash of heads in West Ham’s box in their crunch derby with Tottenham on Sunday.

Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga and Hammers star Soucek both went to head the ball just in front of Lukasz Fabianski’s goal.

And the West Ham ace was left covered in blood from a cut over his eye, though the Tottenham player was left unharmed.

Czech star Soucek was forced off the pitch though returned a few minutes later with a large wad of grease over his eye and perhaps stitches to help the wound.

He also donned a fresh shirt upon his return given the amount of blood that had come from the gash.

The incident happened after West Ham took an early lead over Tottenham through Michail Antonio.

The Hammers have been in fine form this season and are in a battle for a place in the Premier League top four.

West Ham boss David Moyes recently said: “We are not scratching the surface yet. There is so much more we can give and do.

“Part of a manager’s job is to raise expectations but I won’t be stupid as West Ham have done it too often and maybe got it wrong.

“We’ll be steady and sensible but ambitious, I want to compete at top of the league – the players are giving me every hope and I can sense they want more.

“I want to grow a club, or help… which will do it steadily. It’s rare you can get here from where we’ve been and stayed there. You have to do it in stages but we’re aware it could easily go.”
