Too early to decide on Awoniyi’s future, says Mainz manager

Mainz coach, Achim Beierlorzer, has said it’s too soon to make a decision over the future of Taiwo Awoniyi.

The striker is on-loan this season from Liverpool and has been impressive during the Bundesliga’s restart.

Beierlorzer insists there’ll be time to consider whether to keep hold of the Nigerian once the season is concluded.

“Before we have reached our goal, for which we still have to collect points, there are no talks,” he said.

“Taiwo said in January that he did not want to move again, he feels comfortable and understood with us. After that, he just kept working on himself.”
