Tottenham ‘close to completing Gil in Erik Lamela swap

Sevilla winger Bryan Gil

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to completing to signing of Sevilla winger Bryan Gil, in a deal that will see Erik Lamela move in the opposite direction.

Newly-appointed head coach Nuno Espirito Santo and director of football Fabio Paratici are believed to be big admirers of the 20-year-old, who is away with the Spanish national team at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Even though Gil has £43m release clause in his current contract, Tottenham have agreed to pay Sevilla £21.6m for the winger, with Lamela joining the Spanish club as part of the deal, according to Sky Sports News in Italy.

Lamela is set to sign a three-year contract with Julen Lopetegui’s side, bringing to an end his eight-year spell in North London.
