Tottenham make dramatic U-turn on Gattuso’s bid

Tottenham Hotspur officials have changed their minds on the proposed bid to hire former Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso.

According to The Athletic, the former Victor Osimhen’s coach, won’t be getting the job as Spurs have decided against appointing the former Fiorentina and Napoli coach.

Gattuso parted ways with Fiorentina just 23 days after being named head coach at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Disagreements between his agent Jorge Mendes and the Tuscans over the club’s transfer strategies reportedly led to Gattuso’s Fiorentina exit before he began the job.

Tottenham offered the 2006 Italy World Cup winner a two-year deal, but according to The Athletic, the offer is no longer on the table as Spurs have decided against appointing Gattuso as their head coach.

Tottenham had been close to appointing another Serie A coach, Paulo Fonseca, who eventually wasn’t eventually appointed due to tax issues.

New Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici continues the search for a new coach in North London.

The former Juventus director was officially appointed by Tottenham last week and had considered Gattuso to replace Andrea Pirlo at Juventus.

He is on very good terms with Gattuso’s agent Jorge Mendes whose clients Joao Cancelo and Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus during his tenure.
