Totti and Spalletti finally bury the hatchet

Francesco Totti and Luciano Spalletti have buried the hatchet with a big hug, putting the years of bitterness from the Roma experience behind them.

The pair had been close during the tactician’s first spell at the Stadio Olimpico, but things fell apart when Spalletti returned for a second time from 2016 to 2017.

Totti was nearing the end of his career and contract, frustrated at the lack of playing time, while the coach felt pressured by the fans and media every time he did not start the captain.

Spalletti was even depicted as a villain in the mini-series based on Totti’s life, but in recent months they have started to bridge that gap and open up to a reunion.

The Italy coach suggested that they meet up during the planned visit of the Azzurri squad to the Bambin Gesu children’s hospital in Rome.

That happened this evening and seals the end of the hostilities between them.
