Townsend stunner aids Toffees fightback to 3-1 victory

An Andros Townsend stunner was one of three quickfire second-half goals that helped Everton come from behind to beat Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

A back and forth first half finished goalless as neither side made the most of their chances.

Burnley did take the lead in the 54th minute, though. Ben Mee got it as he headed home Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s free-kick.

They were only ahead for around six minutes, however, as Michael Keane equalised for the hosts. Townsend was involved as his cross was headed into the net by the defender.

Townsend gave his side the lead a few minutes later via a ferocious left-footed strike that nestle in the top corner past Nick Pope.

Goodison Park was already bouncing before Demarai Gray made it three moments later. Abdoulaye Doucoure sent him through and the winger made no mistake as he calmly finished past Pope.

This is Everton’s third league win of the season and they are still unbeaten under Rafael Benitez. Burnley meanwhile are still winless as they have picked up just one point so far.
