Transfer: Cremonese turn down Rangers bid for Dessers

Glasgow Rangers have had a bid to sign Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers turned down as Michael Beale looks to snap up a long term striking target.

The frontman was bought for £6m last summer and scored 10 goals in 26 games in all competitions for Cremonese, who were relegated to Serie B. The Ibrox side want to bring him to Glasgow now but the Italian outfit want to recoup as much of the £6m as possible before they sell him.

“The Light Blues have tabled a significant seven-figure bid for the Nigerian international,” according to the Daily Record.

“Their opening bid was turned down but Rangers remain in talks to see if a deal can be struck.”

Dessers has a fairly decent goal record throughout his career with the Belgian-born Nigeria international playing for the likes of Utrecht, Genk and Feyenoord before joining Cremonese last summer.

The Daily Record report an initial bid for Dessers has been turned down and it was a ‘significant seven figure’ offer for the Nigeria international. It’s believed he is a player who Beale has been a fan of for a long time and he wants him to replace Alfredo Morelos.
