Transfer: PSG planning unthinkable Ronaldo, Messi partnership

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly come up with a sensational plan to turn a dream into reality by partnering Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the French capital.

PSG unveiled Messi, 34, earlier this week after the Argentina captain left Barcelona having been unable to sign a new contract with his boyhood club.

Messi spent the most-memorable years of his Barca career battling a Real Madrid side spearheaded by Ronaldo during many a memorable Clasico between 2009 and 2018.

The Portugal skipper then departed Los Blancos to join Juventus, where he has scored at a prolific rate but is out of contract next summer.

That last fact has not escaped PSG’s attention and Diario AS claims club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has his heart set on bringing Ronaldo to Le Parc des Princes next summer.

The report asserts the Ligue 1 giants will allow Kylian Mbappe to depart at the expiry of his deal in June before replacing him with Ronaldo, who will then be 37.

Mbappe, 22, has shown little desire to sign a new contract in the French capital and will be a free agent, with Real Madrid leading the race for his signature.

PSG hope the blow of losing the France phenomenon will be lessened substantially by Ronaldo’s arrival, which would bring Al-Khelaifi’s dream to fruition.

The PSG supremo has long been desperate to add Messi and Ronaldo to a star-studded attack that already includes Neymar and Angel Di Maria, among others.

Should Ronaldo sign next summer, it would mean PSG have a forward trio comprised of the 2015 Ballon d’Or podium. Messi scooped the award with 41.3 percent of votes that year ahead of Ronaldo in second and Neymar in third.
