Transfer window: I’m still on the move, says PSG star Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe had declared that he is “going to play for a big club” in his latest statement surrounding his immediate future.

The Frenchman is fast approaching the end of his contract, which expires at the end of the season, and the World Cup winner is free to discuss a summer move with other clubs this January.

Paris Saint-Germain shockingly turned down a world-record £189million offer from Real Madrid in the summer despite the 22-year-old’s imminent contract expiry, perhaps in the hope that Mbappe would sign a new deal.

However, it looks like Mbappe is definitely heading for the exit door after his latest transfer declaration.

It originally seemed that Mbappe was destined for Madrid, and that may very much still be the case, but the Frenchman’s latest comments have opened the door for other clubs to get in and amongst the mix.

It’s not every window that the opportunity presents itself to sign a generational talent on a free deal, and Europe’s elite are expected to battle it out come January.

Mbappe has sparked a potential transfer war after he told Amazon Prime Video in France: “It’s not easy. Whatever happens, I’m going to play for a big club.”

The comments seem to all but guarentee his PSG exit either in January or next summer, and the Frenchman went on to explain how he felt in the summer when his move to Madrid was blocked by the Ligue 1 giants.

Mbappe revealed: “People were asking me if I wasn’t too disappointed… yes a bit at the beginning, when you wanted to leave, but I wasn’t in the 3rd division.”

The Frenchman will get his chance to leave should he not sign a new deal, and other clubs are lining up in the event that Mbappe has a change if heart and decides not to stick with his original decision to move to Madrid.

Liverpool are one of the names that have been thrown into the mix, although they would find it difficult to match Mbappe’s wages due to a strict salary protocol at the club, that is delaying a new deal for current star Mohamed Salah.
