Transfer window: Newcastle chiefs discussing January market strategy

Newcastle United are spending the international break to prepare for the January market.

Chronicle Live says Newcastle chiefs are already plotting their January moves in the hope they won’t be left behind when the winter market rolls around. The Magpies added four summer additions, with Eddie Howe strengthening his defence and bringing in marquee addition Alexander Isak at the other end of the pitch.

However, Newcastle were still trying to get deals done in the final hours of the window after finding the business end of the summer a frustrating one. Howe admitted his team were working right up until the final hours of the window, with other Premier League sides unwilling to do business late on.

Newcastle know the January window will provide even more problems and have already made a start identifying key targets they may be able to secure during the season.

Newcastle were sent a reminder that they need to move quickly with their business on Friday as former transfer target Joao Pedro penned a new deal with Watford.
