Transfer window: Sadio Mane ‘is Bayern Munich’s top priority’

Bayern Munich have made Liverpool star, Sadio Mane, their primary target for the summer transfer window.

Mane has been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga and Bild have now reported that the 30-year-old’s representatives met with the German club in Mallorca to discuss a potential deal.

However, Mane – who is out of contract in 2023 – has said he will only reveal his future plans after Liverpool’s Champions League final against Real Madrid this weekend.

Mane is entering the final year of his contract at Anfield and has been linked with a move to Germany after six years at the Merseyside club.

Bayern Munich are said to be in pole position to sign Mane this summer – despite interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG’s recent deal with Kylian Mbappe could also see the French side pull out of the running – having just offered the 23-year-old a new three year deal worth £42.5million (€50m).

Bayern Munich are eager to sign Mane this summer as they believe Robert Lewandowski could leave to join Barcelona.

Lewandowski has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Barcelona but the specifics of the potential deal have not yet been revealed.

Bayern’s chief Hasan Salihamidzic and boss Julian Nagelsmann think a ‘statement’ signing would soften the blow of losing the Polish striker.

However, should Lewandowski stay at the club, they would continue to play him up front and utilise Mane on the flank next season.

When asked directly about a move to Bayern Munich this summer, Mane said he would only provide clarity on his future after Liverpool’s Champions League final on Saturday.

He told reporters after Liverpool’s open training session on Wednesday: ‘I think the question is a very good question, for now it’ll be difficult for me to answer.

‘But for sure I am very focused on the Champions League. Ask me the question after the Champions League, I will answer you.’
