Transfer window: West Ham eyeing January transfer target Mohamed Bayo

West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing Clermont Foot striker Mohamed Bayo, following a top season in front of goal.

Bayo was a reported target of a number of Premier League clubs in January. West Ham were one of the sides linked with the striker, who had notched 22 goals in Ligue 2 the previous season.

It was reported that Bayo would not leave, as he was crucial to Clermont Foot’s bid to stay in Ligue 1. As such, the Hammers did not sign a striker in the window.

Bayo continued his good form from the previous season during this campaign. He bagged 14 goals in the league, placing him eighth on the list of highest scorers – just ahead of Neymar.

Bayo’s goals helped Clermont Foot to avoid the drop, as they finished in 17th place.

While the struggling side were not willing to sell midseason, their stance may have changed. Should they sell now, they would be given time to find a replacement.

Foot Mercato reports that after his top season, a number of sides are keen. West Ham are name alongside Frankfurt in that report, as they ‘greatly appreciate his profile’.

It is no surprise that West Ham have remained interested, following a top season for Bayo.

With another European campaign likely on the way, upping their quality will be important.

The Hammers are likely keen on finally landing another option up top.
