U20 AFCON:  Rohr hits Niger next week

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has told SportingLife.ng that he would join the Flying Eagles in Niger next week for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Rohr actually watched the team’s training sessions for 3 days in Abuja before travelling to Enugu for the Lobi Stars versus Wydad Casablanca’s CAF Champions League match.

He watched the team’s training from Monday to Wednesday this week at the Goal Project pitch of the Abuja National Stadium and has made and shared useful technical contributions with the Flying Eagles Chief Coach Paul Aigbogun.

This week also Rohr made it public about reserving one or two spots for an outstanding player of the team in the continental tournament to join the 23-man Super Eagles squad that would take on visiting Seychelles national team in the inconsequential 2019 AFCON qualifying match and and also in an international friendly against the 2019 AFCON bound Pharaohs of Egypt at.the Late Steven Keshi Stadium Asaba on Match 23 and March 26, 2019 respectively.

Rohr charged the team, “This team is full of very good players and they have a technically sound coach Paul Aigbogun. I have told the players to listen to the instructions of their Coach and try all they can to carry out that instruction to the letters on the pitch. I also told them I have reserved a place in the Eagles for the best players in the team.

“With what I have seen in the team I am hopeful of a good outing for them in U20 AFCON.

“Two teams will qualify from four (4) good teams in the group. Niger is doing very well in friendlies. South Africa has quick and technical players. And Burundi is a dangerous outside. So the tournament will be tough and interesting”, Rohr disclosed to SportingLife.ng.
