Unbalanced coverage of Serie A title race causes controversy in Italy

Milan fans are not impressed with the coverage of the Serie A title race from Italian media, noticing an imbalance between interviews with Sassuolo and Sampdoria players.

The Rossoneri can win their first Serie A title in 11 years on Sunday. They visit Sassuolo in the last game of the season and a draw would be enough to become Italian champions. On the other hand, Inter face Sampdoria at the Stadio Meazza and must win to retain the Serie A title, hoping to see Milan lose at the Mapei Stadium.

Milan fans have been complaining about the coverage of games on Italian media as they see a tendency to push Sassuolo more than Sampdoria.

The Neroverdi director Giovanni Carnevali has released at least two interviews since the start of the week. Coach Alessio Dionisi spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday and Giacomo Raspadori has also assured Sassuolo will try to win against Milan. Sampdoria, on the other hand, have been way quieter and the only relevant interview was the one with Marco Giampaolo in Il Giornale newspaper.

Milan fans think the coverage from Italian media has been unbalanced and Paolo Bertolucci, one of the best Italian tennis players of all time and a Rossoneri supporter, was among those complaining on social media.

“I read, rightly, that Sassuolo will play to win and will give 100%. I have no news of Samp. Are they on a cruise?” he wrote on Twitter.
