Under-pressure Man Utd boss preparing team for Tottenham this weekend

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to keep his Manchester United job for now – as calls for him to be sacked intensify.

The United boss is under huge pressure following a 5-0 thrashing at home by bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

It comes after a dismal run of results with no win in four Premier League matches and a series of shocking performances.

But SunSport reported that Solskjaer will not be axed yet, despite growing pressure on his position.

Old Trafford chiefs held talks yesterday over his future, with the board mixed over when he goes or stays.

The Norwegian is set to take training this morning, and prepare his team for Tottenham this weekend.

The 48-year-old will also hold clear-the-air talks with his squad as their season descends into chaos.

There is growing discontent among the players over his tactics and whether he can take the team forward.

United are already eight points off leaders Chelsea in the Premier League, and have struggled at times in the Champions League.

The club do NOT want to sack Solskjaer, who is a club legend and won numerous trophies at Old Trafford.

But the growing anger among supporters, and the worrying run of results has been too much to ignore.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has backed Solskjaer both publicly and behind-the-scenes.

They put together a long-term plan with the former Cardiff manager when he succeeded Jose Mourinho.

And they don’t want to move away from that strategy is they can help it, despite pressure building.
