A Premier League footballer has been placed under investigation for the rape of a student in France.
This report emerged on Wednesday afternoon and almost 24 hours later the names of the footballer has not yet been revealed.
The incident is said to have taken place in Nimes when the victim was 15 years old in July 2012, and she has since made it clear to police that she was forced into sexual activity with two men.
These men were aged 17 and 19 at the time and one is believed to be a current Premier League footballer who The Telegraph newspaper couldn’t name for legal reasons.
The aforementioned individual is currently on bail awaiting trial, and his cousin is the other male involved in the case.
Initially the accused denied all allegations, but later admitted that this was simply to avoid upsetting his girlfriend, he has since admitted that there were consensual relations between himself and the victim.
