Up to 1,000 fans in all Serie A games

Italian Government has agreed to open up Serie A games to a maximum of 1,000 spectators until another review on October 7.

Several regional authorities in Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Lombardy had already passed individual rulings, so the pressure helped the Government and Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora to follow suit.

It stands to reason, because the current COVID-19 lockdown rules allow up to 1,000 people to attend open-air events, such as concerts and theatre productions.

Football is considered no different and therefore ought to receive the same treatment, although for now the Government ruling only covers Serie A games.

Fans can still ensure social distancing by keeping at least one metre apart, while they’ll also be asked to wear masks coming in and have their temperature checked.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the new ruling will be valid from today until October 7, at which point it will receive another revision based on the latest COVID data.
