Update: Osimhen to wear Jersey No9 at Napoli

Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, will don jersey number nine when he finally resumes with Italian giants Napoli.

According to the football Italia report, Osimhen already passed his medical in Rome last Saturday and has chosen the Number 9 jersey, which is currently held by Fernando Llorente.

Lille president, Gerard Lopez, is expected to finalise the details of Osimhen’s contract this weekend.

The 21-year-old Nigeria international spent weeks in negotiations for the deal, which stalled due to a row with his previous agent, but it was finally resolved this week.

Despite the reports of a fee worth €81m, it’s believed in Italy the cost of the operation will be €60m including various performance-related bonuses.

Goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis will also be included as part of the switch.

He was purchased from RSC Charleroi last summer for €14m and had a positive first season at Lille, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in 38 competitive games.

The player won’t be presented to the media in Naples until after his summer vacation, but the picture posing with the jersey and President Aurelio De Laurentiis has already been taken and is ready to go.
