Video: Fela Kuti’s track inspired Anthony Joshua to reclaim World titles

Anthony Joshua activated the rematch clause with Andy Ruiz after the defeat back in June and since then the Brit had talked about how the next fight was about legacy, on Saturday night, December 7, in Saudi Arabia it proved to be so.

Joshua, fighting to save his legacy and continue on his path to become a lineal, undisputed heavyweight champion was captured in his selection of an Afrobeat classic in his ring walk.

Paying tribute to Nigeria and to the Legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the 30-year-old had the instrumentals of WATER NO GET ENEMY blaring on the speakers inside the Diriyah Arena.

This unique sound was noticed by a few keen ears including Nigerian sprint King Seye Ogunlewe and he tweeted:

Per By Marc Williams [talkSport], Anthony Joshua paid homage to his Nigerian roots ahead of his world heavyweight title fight with Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia.

The last time he fought Ruiz, Joshua used ‘Ye’ by Burna Boy as his entrance theme at the world’s most famous Madison Square Garden.
