Video: Napoli ultras protest against UCL ticket prices, security

Napoli ultras are staging a protest against ticket prices and increased security ahead of their clash with Milan, criticising President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

This is the first of three meetings between the clubs over the next few weeks, as they will also face off in the Champions League quarter-finals on April 12 and 18.

Napoli ultras chose this occasion to stage a protest against President De Laurentiis, as despite being runaway Serie A leaders and into the final eight of Europe’s top tournament, they are still furious over their treatment at the Stadio Maradona.

They are protesting against increased ticket prices and stricter security, including a clampdown on unauthorised banners and flags.

“De Laurentiis is the proprietor, not the master,” was a chant as the ultras gathered in Piazzale Tecchio, outside the Stadio Maradona.

They will be in the stands this evening, but have pledged to stay silent throughout as part of the protest.

“We have been battling for this joy that we haven’t experienced for 33 years, we want to enjoy it our way. Do Napoli think the ultras are a problem?”
