Video: Real Madrid mess up penalty routine made famous by Cruyff
Johan Cruyff and Jesper Olsen brought the unique penalty routine to the world, Robert Pires and Thierry Henry screwed it up before Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez pulled it off perfectly.
Last night, Real Madrid pair Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema tried to be clever from 12 yards but got it badly wrong.

With Real 1-0 up and on the verge of winning La Liga against Villarreal, Los Blancos were awarded a penalty and Ramos, reliable as ever, stepped up to take.
But instead of smashing it or even attempting a Panenka, Ramos touched the ball forward to Benzema, who slotted home his second goal of the game.
Ramos and Benzema tried to recreate this Lionel Messi and Suarez 'Penalty assist' but it ended in tears 😁
Anyways, LA Liga is ours, thanks to Zidane😁 Happy birthday Gareth Bale😁 #HalaMadrid Thanks to Benzema, Isco, Vinicius Jr, Casemiro, Courtois, Marcelo, Ramos, Varane etc. pic.twitter.com/2Cd54Kx35V

However, the Real No.9 had actually encroached into the area too early and so the spot-kick had to be retaken. Benzema assumed duties for the second penalty and duly converted past Sergio Asenjo.
It’s the second instance this season we’ve seen the cheeky penalty, after Shakhtar Donetsk Under 19”s players executed it superbly back in October.
Mykhaylo Mudryk and Heorhii Sudakov well and truly mastered it in the 2-2 draw with Atalanta in the UEFA Youth League, showing Ramos and Benzema how it’s done.
Of course the cock-up didn’t matter too much for Real given Benzema put away the retaken penalty and sealed a 34th La Liga title.
