Video: PSG stars celebrate with thousands of fans outside Parc des Princes

PSG’s stars have celebrated their Champions League victory on the side of the Parc des Princes in front of their fans outside the stadium.

The knockout match against Borussia Dortmund had been played behind closed doors due to the potential spread of coronavirus.

But that did not stop the PSG fans marching towards the stadium and remaining there throughout the match as their celebrations were relayed inside the Parc des Princes on a big screen.

And after the victory, Layvin Kurzawa even entered the huge crowds to celebrate with their adoring fans.

After PSG won 2-0 on the night, overturning the 2-1 defeat by Dortmund in the first leg, the players rushed to the top of the stadium in the capital.

There, stars including Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani danced shirtless to the delight of the hordes of fans below.

The supporters, many wearing hazmat suits, set off flares and danced in close proximity to each other along the Parisian streets.

On Monday, Paris police announced any events with more than 1,000 spectators would be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus outbreak.

But it appears the fans of the French champions were not scared of coming into close quarters with each other as they embraced and danced along the crowded streets.

The supporters even let off fireworks and surrounded the team buses ahead of the crucial last 16 match.

On Tuesday, Valencia fans similarly arrived outside the Mestalla despite their match with Atalanta being played to an empty stadium.

Spain’s health ministry said it wanted to avoid ‘large gatherings of fans’ but many flouted their recommendations.

Wednesday’s match in the French capital is one of a number being held behind closed doors in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Barcelona will play their tie against Napoli on March 18 at an empty Nou Camp, and Chelsea’s second leg at Bayern Munich will be played behind closed doors.

The deadly virus is also affecting the Europa League, with Manchester United’s away tie at LASK on Thursday being played at an empty stadium.
